Summer Camping

Summer at the Campsite in Brunnen

In summer the Forggensee shore invites you to swim and sunbathe... Water lovers, mountaineers and hikers get their money's worth here.

Our site is located directly on the Forggensee - Germany's largest artificial reservoir. From 01 June of each year it regains its full splendour - filled with fresh glacier water.

Here you can jump into the cool water directly from the campsite or simply relax in the sun on the beach. Our lakeside path invites you to take an evening walk right on the water's edge and the mini-market always has ice cream ready to take away. Should your appetite be a little larger, we are happy to serve you both cold and hot food as well as drinks in our restaurant.

So that nothing stands in the way of relaxation even in bad weather, we have set up a wellness area with three saunas, a whirlpool and a relaxation room for you. For children, our indoor playground offers a great opportunity to let off steam on rainy days.

Summer in the Allgäu Region - Multi-Facetted for Young and Old

Summertime is THE camping season par excellence. Bathing in the sun during the day, sitting together in the evening with a cool beer while having a barbecue, or enjoying a delicious dinner on the terrace of the Restaurant Brunnenstüberl - how could a summer's day turn out better? In order for our guests to have a great time relaxing, of course there must be no lack of comfort, and the wonderful leisure and excursion possibilities around the Campsite Brunnen do the rest.

What could be more natural than cooling off on a hot day in Forggensee? Only a few steps away from our campsite the cool water is waiting for you and invites you to swim, sail or surf. For those who would like to learn sailing and surfing, the sailing school, for example, offers courses for all ages.

It’s really worth considering to book a boat tour in order to enjoy the view of the breathtaking mountain panorama and take a look at the Castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau being a part of the mountain range. The special thing about it: the ships of the Forggensee shipping company dock right next to our camping site.

Please note that Forggensee is Germany's largest artificial reservoir and is drained again from 15 October each year and must be completely filled again by 01 June each year.

Tips for Hiking

Schwangau has 120 kilometres of hiking trails. In one of the most beautiful regions of the Allgäu, there is something for everyone; from a leisurely walk in the valley, to hiking, to mountaineering, also including a fixed rope route. Lace up your hiking boots, take your poles, a rucksack with drinks, a hearty snack and off you go. Already from our camping site you can set off on foot. Also climbers and high alpine sportsmen find only 2 km further on at Tegelberg fixed rope routes in different degrees of difficulty.
